DEVELOPMENT LEAGUE - RULES
These rules are specific to the Development League only, they are a supplement to the main Sim Speedway game rules which can be found by clicking here.
RIDER ELIGIBILITY
1. The Development League is set up to allow young British riders to gain experience, no foreign riders are allowed in the Development League. The only nationalities allowed are English, Scottish, Irish & Welsh or riders who hold dual natioanlity as long as one of the nationalities is one of the previously mentioned.
2. Development League riders must be 16 years of age or under, there are no exceptions to this, the minimum age limit for riders in the Development League is 14.
COMPETITIONS - RULES & FORMAT
1. There will be three different competitions running in the Development League this season, a League competition which will be split into North and South divisions consisting of 8 teams. There will also be two trophy competitions, the Development League trophy and the DL Trophy.
The DL Trophy is a 1 leg, random draw competition. The Development League trophy will be a North v South draw initially over 2 legs, and thereafter it will be North v South where possible.
The league competitions will be competitive and we will crown 2 champions, the North champion and the South champion.
DRAFTING OF RIDERS
1. Riders who competed in the previous seasons second half events, are the only riders who are eligible to be signed to ride in the Development League.
2. The riders on this list are subject to a draft system, whereby a team elects to sign the rider, and then has to agree terms with them for the coming season. If terms are not agreed then the rider returns to the available riders list. The draft is done in strict order, as follows :
a) Development League teams, starting with the team who finished with the least points from the 2 leagues, right up to the team who finished with the most points, this will be one round only.
b) Managers who hosted a second half event the previous season, with the order being determined by a random draw, this will be one round only. This section will depend on their being enough riders to fill the DL teams with assets.
c) Development League teams, starting with the team who finished with the least points from the 2 leagues, right up to the team who finished with the most points, this part of the draft will continue until all teams in the DL have 3 of their own assets.
d) Managers who hosted a second half event the previous season, with the order being the same draw as before, this will continue until all riders have been drafted or have a maximum of 2 assets.
e) If there are riders remaining, they will go to any other manager in the game who expresses an interest, this will be one round only.
3. When agreeing terms with a rider, the only thing to do is to agree a signing on fee and persuade the rider that your club is the place for him to develop his career. As such, you are now no longer just bidding you are making a proposal to the rider and selling your club to him, much like what happens in real speedway !
4. You can release riders at the end of the season if you wish, but you must pay them £1,000 as severance for terminating their contract.
TEAM BUILDING
1. Development League team building rules in Sim Speedway are as follows :
Teams must be built to a points limit of 25.00
Teams made up of four riders
Riders can ride at any number in the team
2. Averages will be calculated after 6 meetings during the Sim Speedway season, and the rider will then keep that average until the end of the season, where his end of season average will be the riders next season average. A rider must have completed at least 6 meetings to get an average. Only league meetings count towards an average.
3. Throughout the season, you must maintain a squad of only 4 riders, so build your team wisely at the start of the season, no DL sides are permitted to make changes until after the first set of averages have been issued.
3. Not all members of your squad are allowed to be your asset, you must have 3 riders who are your asset, leaving you with 1 placed rider who is not an asset.
AVERAGE CONVERSION BETWEEN LEAGUES
1. Any rider moving from the Development League into the Academy League will start on an average of 3.00.
2. No Academy League riders can drop down into the Development League at all, once a rider has ridden in the Academy League (with the exception of guesting or doubling up) he cannot come back and ride in the Development League.
3. Riders coming in to the Development League from the Second Half events will come in on 66% of their Second Half average.
INJURIES
1. Injuries are part of Sim Speedway. If your rider is injured in a meeting you will be informed of the number of meetings he will miss and you must arrange cover for that rider. The only riders available to cover for injury are the riders on the guest list. Any rider from the guest list can be used to cover an injured rider as long as the team doesn't go over the 23.00 average, so the rider coming in can technically have a higher average than the one he is replacing. Guest riders must be paid £100 to appear, as well as their points and travel money.
GAME PLAY - MANAGER OPTIONS OF CHANGES TO SCHEDULED HEATS
1. The meetings held are only 6 heat, 4 rider mini challenge meetings, and as such a manager does not have many options of changing things round, all riders must take their 3 scheduled rides unless injury prevents this, any rider injured must be replaced with any available rider in the team.
2. Any rider who touches the tapes, they do not have any option of being replaced by a reserve, they must always go off 15m.
3. A rider missing the 2 minutes is excluded, no replacements are allowed for missing the 2 minutes.
LEAGUE PLACES
1. There will be no promotion or relegation from the Development Leagues, and places in this league will be by application to the NSSPA only.
2. Teams who do not participate fully in the Development League, by playing the game and using the forum will have the team removed from them at the end of the season.
FINANCES
1. Each team pays their own riders, regardless of being home or away, and all costs incurred by the Development team will need to be covered by the parent team.
2. The pay per point in the Development League is £5 per point for ALL riders.
3. Other costs in the Sim Speedway game this year for the Development League are :
Insurance, this costs £150 per HOME meeting
Medical cover, this costs £150 per HOME meeting
Stadium upkeep, this costs £150 per HOME meeting
In addition, booking a guest rider costs the team an extra £100 appearance fee.
4. To try and offset some losses, attendance to all meetings in the Development League costs £3, so a little money is made on gate takings and through the Bar, Fast Food outlets & Track shop.
Bar, Food & track shop are all worked out as an average spend depending on the size of your crowd.
